This language is spoken by 9,100 people in Pakistan in the northeastern part of Chitral (called the Baroghil area in teh glacier neighborhood), Gojal (in the upper Hunza valley from Gulmit to the Chinese and Afghanistan borders, and in the the following valleys:  Shimshal, Chupursan, the upper Yarkhun, and upper Ishkoman.  It is also spoken in Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and China.
